OHI to Hold Men’s Health Month Awareness Events

NEPTUNE, NJ – Ocean Health Initiatives, Inc. (OHI), will host two awareness events in observance of Men’s Health Month, Thursday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the OHI Freehold Health Center, 20 Jackson Street, Suite E, Freehold; and Friday, June 22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the OHI Lakewood Health Center, 101 Second Street, Lakewood. OHI’s  Outreach team will be available  with information on common diseases and conditions that affect men’s health; such as colorectal cancer, high blood pressure and STD’s.

Men’s Health Month is recognized during the month of June, bringing attention to  health care for men of all ages by encouraging regular screenings and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Prevention and knowledge are key to helping catch disease early when it’s treatable.

Visit OHI at the Soulsational Festival 2016

Visit OHI’s (Ocean Health Initiatives) Mobile Medical Unit and tent at the 6th Annual Soulsational Festival 2016, open to the public, on Saturday, July 30, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Veteran’s Park, Bayville, N.J.  At the festival, OHI is offering free blood pressure and glucose screenings, giveaways, primary health care service information, and information about health insurance through the Marketplace, including Medicaid information.

OHI is a federally qualified health center (FQHC) with locations in Lakewood, Toms River, Manahawkin and Lakehurst.  The Soulsational Festival is a free community service event, showcasing a variety of small business owners and practitioners collaborating to offer integrative approaches to health, wellness, and healing.

The Festival includes live music; vendors; organic, health and vegetarian options; yoga; free classes and demonstrations; a Kid Village, and more.  The mission of the Soulsational Festival is to educate and guide people to help achieve a more individual optimal wellness lifestyle.

Outreach and Enrollment associates of OHI (Ocean Health Initiatives),  are available to  answer questions and address concerns about ACA (the Affordable Care Act), and provide information about OHI’s medical services for insured, uninsured and underinsured Ocean County residents every Wednesday this May and June from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The County Connection, located near JC Penney’s, Ocean County Mall, 1201 Hooper Ave, Toms River, NJ 08753.

OHI’s Outreach and Enrollment staff will be on site at the County Connection not only to explain any changes in ACA, and discuss options under Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare, but to provide information about OHI’s participation in the Veterans Choice Program.

The County Connection is a service of the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
It is open during mall hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. It is handicapped accessible and served by public transportation, including New Jersey Transit and Ocean Ride buses.

OHI Associates to Participate in Annual Baby & Children’s Fair

OHI (Ocean Health Initiatives), a federally qualified health center in Ocean County and a community partner of Community Medical Center, will be participating in the Annual Baby & CMC-2016-Baby-Fair(sp)Children’s Fair at Community Medical Center, 99 Highway 37 West, Toms River, Sunday, April 24, 2016, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

At the Fair, OHI’s outreach associates will provide guidance to attendees about the Affordable Care Act (ACA), answer questions, explain any changes, and discuss options under Medicaid and New Jersey FamilyCare. OHI will also give attendees information on its women’s health services and its affiliation with the hospital.

The Fair includes drawings, refreshments, and giveaways. Organizations and agencies will provide information about services available in the community. The bilingual outreach and enrollment team of Ocean Health Initiatives (OHI), a federally qualified health center with locations in Ocean County, will be available to provide guidance about the Affordable Care Act (ACA), answer questions, explain any changes, and discuss options under Medicaid and Family Care at the Smart Living Expo, a resource for Lakewood adult population age 40 and over on Sunday, March 13, 2016, from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Lake Terrace Hall, 1690 Oak Street, Lakewood, N.J. Admission is free.

The Smart Living Expo, a joint venture of Lakewood Hatzolah and The Voice of Lakewood, is an opportunity to talk with leaders in their fields of expertise to get information about multiple services and products, such as the ACA, nutrition, health, finances, fitness, home care, leisure services, and more, especially for those facing changes and challenges and need information about planning for the future.

Outreach and Enrollment Team at OHI Is Scheduling Appointments for Open Enrollment

The Outreach and Enrollment team at (Ocean Health Initiatives), a federally qualified health center, are scheduling appointments to help the general public and its patients with enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace, which begins November 1, 2015, and ends January 31, 2016.

Sasha Andino and Carmen E. Lopez, associates of the Outreach and Enrollment Department, and other qualified OHI staff will answer questions, explain any changes, and help individuals sign up for health insurance. Bilingual certified application counselors are available by appointment only.

Appointments can be made at four OHI sites: Lakewood Health Center, 101 Second Street, Lakewood; Toms River Health Center, 301 Lakehurst Road, Toms River; Manahawkin Health Center, 333 Haywood Road, Manahawkin; Manchester Health Center, Lakehurst Circle Center II, 686 Route 70, Lakehurst.

To sign up for health insurance at the time of their appointment, enrollees should bring their social security card; proof of income, such as paystubs, W-2 forms, or other income information; their employer’s information; and their date of birth. Eligible immigrants who want health coverage should bring their documents.

Visit OHI at the 2015 Elderfest Expo

Free Screenings and Outreach and Enrollment Information

Ocean Health Initiatives (OHI), a federally qualified health center, is participating in the Elderfest Expo hosted by Preferred Home Health Care & Nursing Services, Thursday, November 5, 2015, at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center, 815 Route 37, Toms River, N.J., from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Mobile Medical Unit of OHI, staff, and members from the Outreach and Enrollment Department will provide free glucose testing and education about its medical services in Ocean County. Certified navigators from the Health Insurance Marketplace of OHI will be available to answer questions about upcoming open enrollment, and to assist the public with outreach and enrollment information.

Visit OHI at Ocean County Park’s 75th Anniversary Celebration

Ocean Health Initiatives (OHI) will be participating in the 75th Anniversary of Ocean County Park at its recreation, education and preservation event in Ocean County Park, 700 Ocean Avenue, Lakewood, Saturday, June 27, 2015, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The OHI Mobile Medical Unit will be on site in the parking lot toward the open field near the restroom building to provide blood pressure screenings and health educational information for attendees at no cost.

During its 75th anniversary, attendees can enjoy canoeing, kayaking, a chipping contest, horse-drawn carriage rides, sports, an historic baseball game, crafts, walks, live music and food.
