OHI to Sponsor Blood Drive January 31!

One Donation Saves Three Lives!

In recognition of National Blood Donation Month, OHI (Ocean Health Initiatives), a federally qualified health center, is sponsoring a Blood Drive at 101 Second Street, Lakewood, Tuesday, January 31, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to benefit the Central Jersey Blood Center.

Donors must be healthy, at least 17 years old or be 16 with parental consent, weigh at least 120 pounds, and present a signature ID.  Remember to eat and drink plenty of fluids before donating blood.  Those with controlled high blood pressure, heart conditions, and diabetes can donate blood.

Since 1970, National Blood Donation Month in January reminds everyone that blood is needed all year, not just during disasters.

Save the Date for OHI’s 2017 Fundraiser

Help OHI (Ocean Health Initiatives, Inc.) improve the quality of life of Ocean County children, adults, and seniors by attending OHI’s Annual Valentines’ Day Fundraiser, with dinner, dancing, and a Wonderland themed Casino Night, Friday, February 10 from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. at Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club, 20 Shore Oaks Dr, Farmingdale, NJ 07727. 

OHI, a federally qualified health center and 501 (c)(3), provides comprehensive primary and preventative care services to Ocean County’s uninsured and underinsured populations.

Tickets are $150 each. Sponsorships, donations, journal ads, and premium ticket packages are available, and are 100 percent tax deductible, excluding the cost of the dinner. OHI Flu Shot Days Recognize National Influenza Vaccination Week

It’s Never Too Late to Get a Flu Shot!

ohi_flu-shot-awareness-2016In recognition of National Influenza Vaccination Week, Ocean Health Initiatives (OHI), a federally qualified health center with locations in Ocean County, will be holding OHI Flu Shot Days for all age groups from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., December 5 through 9 in five locations.

 

  1. Monday, December 5:  –  101 Second Street, Lakewood
  2. Tuesday, December 6:  –  301 Lakehurst Road, Toms River
  3. Wednesday, December 7:  –  333 Haywood Road, Manahawkin
  4. Thursday, December 8:  –  686 Route 70, Lakehurst
  5. Friday, December 9:  –  798 Route 539. Building 3, Little Egg Harbor

The regular flu shot suitable for all ages costs $20. The high dose vaccine for seniors costs $30.

OHI is holding OHI Flu Shot Days to highlight the importance of getting the vaccine, informing patients about the benefits, and reducing the risk of contracting the flu and spreading it throughout the community.  Those who get the shot will receive a special promotional gift.

OHI Now Providing Physicals for 2016-17 School Year

OHI (Ocean Health Initiatives) is providing physicals for all students participating in the 2016-17 sports seasons as part of its school-based wellness program at Lakewood High School, 855 Somerset Avenue, Suite A, Lakewood, N.J. At their appointment for a sports physical, students will receive a free OHI bag.

OHI’s school-based wellness programs provide primary health care services to the students and their families. In addition to sports physicals, appointments with an OHI provider can be made for sick or well visits. Medical services at the school-based wellness program include pediatrics, women’s health, adult medicine, health awareness and promotion, weight management and nutrition education, immunizations, behavioral health, and sports physicals, among many services.

Demand Growing — OHI Opens Its Fifth State-of-the-Art Health Center in Five Years

The public is invited to celebrate the opening of OHI’s (Ocean Health Initiatives) newest state-of-the-art health center in Ocean County, Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Sea Oaks Medical Campus, 798 Route 539, Building 3, Little Egg Harbor, N.J. 08087.

The OHI health center will focus on family medicine. The Little Egg Harbor facility has 12 exam rooms, four dental chairs, a pharmacy, and LabCorp. Services include pediatrics, maternal and child health, prenatal, universal immunizations, behavioral health, dental, family medicine, internal medicine, OB/GYN, podiatry and social services.

Congressman Frank LoBiondo and Senator Chris Connors have been invited to speak. David Schlick, deputy mayor of Little Egg Harbor Township; Susan Marshall, mayor of Tuckerton; and Melissa McCooley, superintendent of schools, Little Egg Harbor Township will be among the dignitaries.

Dr. Theresa Berger, president and CEO of OHI, said, “OHI is in an exciting time of continuous development, as we are opening our fifth site in the last five years.  We are proud to now offer the residents of Southern Ocean County a brand new state-of-the-art health center at a prime location.”

The opening of OHI’s news health center coincides with National Health Center Week, which recognizes the success of delivering health care through the work and programs of Community Health Centers, and raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s Health Centers, the largest and most successful system of primary health care.

OHI is a 501 (c)(3) federally qualified health center (FQHC) with locations in Lakewood, Toms River, Manahawkin and Lakehurst.  Its mission is to positively impact the health and wellness of those who are uninsured and underinsured, homeless, and people with limited English proficiency. A sliding-fee scale is available, based on an individual’s or family’s ability to pay.

OHI Is Hosting Its Annual Community Health Fair in Lakewood This August

Ocean Health Initiatives (OHI), a federally qualified health center, with offices in Lakewood, Toms River, Manahawkin, and Manchester is hosting a community Health Fair in recognition of National Health Center Week 2016.  The Community Health Fair, open to the public, will take place rain or shine, Saturday, August 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Lakewood Town Square, Clifton Avenue, between Third and Fourth streets.

The Community Health Fair includes free screenings, health education and information, music, giveaways, and fun and games for the entire family.  Amerigroup, Horizon NJ Health, and United Healthcare are providing health education and giveaways.  Horizon NJ Health will be attending with its mobile unit to provide music; and they will be offering screenings, such as Derma Scan skin self-analysis, cholesterol and blood pressure.  United Healthcare is also attending with its mobile unit, Dr. Health E. Hound, a bilingual health educator; Caricature drawings, and a representative with information about NJ Family Care (Medicaid).

When people have a place to go for regular care, they use it and stay healthier. We provide a range of services onsite – primary care services, pediatrics, pharmacy, dentistry, even mental health services. Applications are available online at www.ohinj.org/nhcw2016 for vendors who would like to participate in the Community Health Fair. OHI will provide a 10 x 10 space, room for a six-foot table.  Vendors are responsible for their own tent, table, and chairs. Electricity is available upon request.

Visit OHI at the Soulsational Festival 2016

Visit OHI’s (Ocean Health Initiatives) Mobile Medical Unit and tent at the 6th Annual Soulsational Festival 2016, open to the public, on Saturday, July 30, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Veteran’s Park, Bayville, N.J.  At the festival, OHI is offering free blood pressure and glucose screenings, giveaways, primary health care service information, and information about health insurance through the Marketplace, including Medicaid information.

OHI is a federally qualified health center (FQHC) with locations in Lakewood, Toms River, Manahawkin and Lakehurst.  The Soulsational Festival is a free community service event, showcasing a variety of small business owners and practitioners collaborating to offer integrative approaches to health, wellness, and healing.

The Festival includes live music; vendors; organic, health and vegetarian options; yoga; free classes and demonstrations; a Kid Village, and more.  The mission of the Soulsational Festival is to educate and guide people to help achieve a more individual optimal wellness lifestyle.

OHI Announces Its 2016 Summer Hours

OHI, (Ocean Health Initiatives), a federally qualified health center, with offices in Lakewood, Toms River, Manahawkin, and Lakehurst has announced its 2016 summer hours for all locations.  Starting this July until Tuesday, September 5 all sites will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Late night and Saturday appointments, not available during the summer, will resume Tuesday, September 5, 2016.
