OHI to Sponsor Give Kids a Smile Dental Program

Nearly one in four children ages of two to 11 have untreated cavities in their baby teeth, creating the potential for pain and disease. What about children whose families cannot afford dental services?

Well, children and their parents will have a reason to smile on Friday, February 3, 2017, because OHI (Ocean Health Initiatives), a federally qualified health center, will be participating in Give Kids a Smile Day, a one-day program, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. as part of the American Dental Association (ADA) and the New Jersey Dental Association Foundation’s drive to raise awareness about untreated dental disease and to increase access to oral health care.

In recognition of National Children’s Dental Health Month, OHI will be providing free oral health services to children 12 and under at three OHI health centers locations: Lakewood, 101 Second Street; Toms River, 301 Lakehurst Road; and Little Egg Harbor, Oaks Medical Campus,798 Route 539. Building 3. The services are free to children if they do not have insuranceIf the family does have insurance, however, the insurance company will be billed.

Many dentists will be donating their time to provide the underserved children of Ocean County, N.J., with free oral health services, such as free dental screenings that include a dental exam, X-rays as needed, oral healthcare instruction, fluoride treatments, and free dental hygiene materials, such as toothbrushes, floss and toothpaste.

Throughout the year, OHI offers dental cleanings and full checkups, including X-rays and other screening procedures for children and adults. Dentists are available at the Lakewood, Toms River and Little Egg Harbor sites daily Monday through Friday, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

You Are Invited to OHI’s Annual Valentine’s Day Fundraiser on February 10th!

OHI (Ocean Health Initiatives), a federally qualified health center and 501 (c)(3), is inviting the public to its annual Valentines’ Day fundraiser, which will support health care services for Ocean County children, adults, and seniors.

Enjoy dinner, dancing, and an Alice in Wonderland themed Casino Night, Friday, February 10 from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. at Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club, 20 Shore Oaks Dr, Farmingdale, NJ 07727.  Tickets are $150 each.

Sponsorships, donations, journal ads, and premium ticket packages are available, and are 100 percent tax deductible, excluding the cost of the dinner. All proceeds will benefit the efforts of OHI to improve the quality of life in the community through enhanced medical care services for people of all ages, regardless of their insurance or ability to pay. This includes, but is not limited to, better medical equipment, community outreach, educational materials, vaccinations, health awareness, and more.

OHI has been providing comprehensive primary and preventative care services to Ocean County’s uninsured and underinsured populations for the past 13 years. The increasing number of Ocean County families needing access to health care has resulted in OHI’s continued growth throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties.

OHI to Sponsor Blood Drive January 31!

One Donation Saves Three Lives!

In recognition of National Blood Donation Month, OHI (Ocean Health Initiatives), a federally qualified health center, is sponsoring a Blood Drive at 101 Second Street, Lakewood, Tuesday, January 31, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to benefit the Central Jersey Blood Center.

Donors must be healthy, at least 17 years old or be 16 with parental consent, weigh at least 120 pounds, and present a signature ID.  Remember to eat and drink plenty of fluids before donating blood.  Those with controlled high blood pressure, heart conditions, and diabetes can donate blood.

Since 1970, National Blood Donation Month in January reminds everyone that blood is needed all year, not just during disasters.
